Loved this and look forward to the January 20 piece. I was just having a convo with my wife about how teenagers/20-somethings meet and hook up these days. My sense is - they don’t. Fingers crossed they will get to experience the IRL awkwardness of first moves and fumbled flirtations. That shit is real in the best and worst way, and they deserve to experience it. Great writing, Patrick.
It's true — wrestling with and learning from social awkwardness is the only pathway to social grace. You can't achieve the former without passing through — and sometimes even enjoying — the former.
I try to make the case that what humans call "content" becomes "copy" when viewed from the perspective of the platform that is only using it to get clicks. They call it "content" because (until recently) it was not a word with negative connotations.
brilliant!

Great piece. I’m all for the return of human-led curation on digital platforms
You have a new subscriber in me! I also wrote about the word "content" a while back in a (probably futile) effort to "reclaim" it from big tech: https://www.staygrounded.online/p/reclaiming-the-c-word

I salute you for getting there two and a half years ago, Justin. Well stated, and still just as (if not more) relevant.
Thanks, but there's no way it was two and a half- oh my gosh!
Bullet 4 is my dream, and I am ready to join that fight!
Look for more from me on escaping the algorithm in the very near future, @Adora :)
Great article, Patrick!
Thanks for reading, Linda
